Question : MUZAFFARPUR THERMAL POWER STATION IN BIHAR



(a) whether the Government of Bihar have drawn the attention of the Union Government towards the unnecessary delay in starting the project for setting up a Unit of 2x250 Megawatt capacity in Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station because of non-opening of the single tender received in response to the tenders invited;

(b) if so, whether at present two units of 2x110 Megawatt of the said station are not making generation as per their installed capacity due to some technical faults;

(c) if so, whether the Government have received any proposal for proper maintenance of the said station and for installation of two additional enhancing its capacity;

(d) if so, the details thereof alongwith the estimated total cost respectively; and

(e) the time by which this proposal is likely to be cleared?

(a) : Only one firm M/s Elektrim Megadox S.A., Poland had submitted the offer in response to invitation for Global Bids for implementation of Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Project Extension (2x250 MW). The price part, therefore, could not be opened.

(b) : The installed capacity and performance of the Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station of Bihar is given below:

(c) to (e) : No proposal has been received for proper maintenance of Muzaffarpur TPS. Also, no new proposal has been received for installation of two additional units to enhance the capacity of the Station. However, the proposal received earlier in this regard was cleared by the Planning Commission and the Techno-economic clearance granted by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) long back but the project has not yet taken off.
