(a): Yes, Sir.
(b): In order to estimate the requirement of funds for meeting the physical infrastructure needs
of the subordinate courts, the Department of Justice , Government of India had requested all the
High Courts to send their requirement of funds. Based on the preliminary examination of information
received, requirement for construction of new buildings for the subordinate courts and additional
facilities in the existing buildings has been tentatively estimated to be around Rs.6,660 crore for
the five year period 2010-15.
The Government of India supports State/UT Governments through a Centrally Sponsored Scheme
viz. âDevelopment of Infrastructure Facilities for Judiciaryâ. In addition, a project for
Computerisation of District and Sub-ordinate Courts has also been taken up by the Department of
Justice. The Government of India has also approved âin principleâ a proposal to set up a National
Mission for Justice Delivery and Legal Reforms.
