(a) whether MiG-27 Aircraft recently crashed at Hashimara Airbase in West Bengal;
(b) the number of MiG-27 Aircraft crashed during the last two years and the number of pilots
and co-pilots who lost their lives in the accidents;
(c) whether any high-powered Committee has been constituted to look into the accidents;
(d) if so, the findings of the Committee; and
(e) the average financial loss incurred due to crash of one MiG-27 aircraft?

(a) Yes, Sir. A MiG-27 aircraft crashed at Hashimara airbase on 31st January, 2008.
(b) A total of two MiG-27 aircraft crashed during the last two financial years i.e. 2005-2006,2006-2007 and the current financial year i.e. 2007-2008 (till 10th March,2008). No pilot or co-pilot lost their life in these accidents.
(c) & (d): Each crash is investigated through a Court of Inquiry and remedial measures are undertaken accordingly.
(e) The average financial loss incurred due to crash of one MiG-27 aircraft is Rs.6,79,00,000/-.
