(a) As reported by Central Adoption Resource Authority, the number of children placed in In-country, State/UT-wise, Gender and Age-wise during the last three years and the current year are placed at Annexure-I. The number of children placed in Inter-country (i.e by Overseas Citizen of India, Persons of Indian Origin and Foreigners), State/UT-wise, Country, Gender and Age-wise during the last three years and the current year are placed at Annexure-II and Annexure-III respectively.
(b) The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 was enacted by repealing Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000. Under the revised Act, a full chapter VIII has been added on adoption. Further as required under JJ Act, the Adoption Regulations, 2017 has also been notified. This has come into effect from 16th January, 2017. One of the key features of the new regulations is that time lines have been stipulated for each process and the responsibilities of different agencies have been fixed. Further, the entire process has been made on-line.
