Question : Expansion of AIIMS

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has formulated/proposes to formulate any proposal regarding expansion of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi to ease the pressure of rising number of patients and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the time by which the said expansion is likely to be completed and operationalised and the extent to which it is likely to give relief to the patients; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

STARRED QUESTION NO.359* FOR 10TH AUGUST, 2018

(a) to (c): To address the increasing patient load, Government has approved various proposals related to expansion of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi viz. Surgical Block (200 beds), NCI at Jhajjar (710 beds), Mother & Child Block (425 beds), New paid Ward (107 private rooms), Burn & Plastic Surgery (100 beds), Geratrics Block (200 beds), OPD Block at Masjid Moth.

To expedite execution of these projects and completion in time bound manner, a Project Monitoring Committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Director AIIMS, which meets fortnightly at AIIMS to review the progress of projects.
