Question : Herbal Garden

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government proposes to develop herbal gardens in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State/ UT-wise including those developed with cooperation of multi-national companies State-wise;

(c) whether the Government is formulating any special scheme/incentives for development of herbal garden including incentives for the farmers, if so, the details thereof;

(d) if not, the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the Government has received any proposal from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for development of herbal gardens;


(f) if so, the action taken on the said proposals; and (g) the details of the plan/proposal of the Government to develop herbal garden in Rajasthan?

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYURVEDA,

(a): National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of AYUSH, supports Herbal Garden under its Central Sector Scheme (CSS) on “Conservation, Development and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants.
(b): NMPB supports Herbal Gardens across the country by way of sanctioning various projects. Details of Herbal Garden projects supported in last five years State/UT- wise is placed at Annexure-I. However, NMPB has not supported any Herbal Garden with cooperation of multi-national companies.
(c) & (d): NMPB, Ministry of AYUSH has already a scheme (CSS) wherein the financial assistance is provided for establishment of Herbal Gardens.

(e) & (f): Yes, Project proposals have been received at NMPB for establishment of Herbal Gardens in state of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Details of supported herbal gardens in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are given at Annexure-II
(g): NMPB has supported four (04) projects in Rajasthan during 2017-18 to till date. Details are placed at Annexure-II.
