(a): The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation scheme was launched on 25 June 2015 for a period of five years. The Mission period was extended up to 31 March 2021. Now, the Mission has been subsumed in AMRUT 2.0 and will be supported up to 31 March 2023 to compete the approved projects.
(b): Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 (AMRUT 2.0) has been launched on 1st October 2021 with overall vision of creating Water Secure Cities, providing universal coverage of water in all statutory towns and universal coverage of sewerage/ septage coverage in 500 AMRUT cities in the next five years.
AMRUT 2.0 targets to provide reliable 2.68 crore new water tap connections to all in about 4,800 statutory towns. Also, it proposes to get universal household coverage of sewerage/ septage services in 500 AMRUT cities through 2.64 crore new sewer connections.Rejuvenation of water bodies, green spaces and parks are other components of this Mission. Outcome based funding is the major feature of the Mission.
Total indicative outlay for AMRUT 2.0 is ?2,99,000 crore (including both Central share and State share) which includes allocation for projects of ongoing AMRUT Mission to the tune of ?22,000 crore. Total indicative Central share is ?86,760 crore including ?10,000 crore for AMRUT projects.
(c) and (d): The projects taken up by the States /Union Territories (UTs) under AMRUT will be supported up to March, 2023. All the AMRUT cities have been covered under AMRUT 2.0 .
