(a) the total number of Sainik schools in the country, their locations and the total number of students studying in them;
(b) the details of proposals for new Sainik schools, including proposed locations in the country and the likely date of commencement;
(c) whether there are any Sainik schools functioning in Telangana and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) whether there is any proposal under consideration for a new Sainik school in Telangana and if so, the details thereof?

IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE
(a) There are 33 Sainik Schools in the Country. Details of location of Sainik Schools and number of students studying in these schools is at Annexure- ‘A’.
(b) The details of proposal for new Sainik Schools including proposed locations is at Annexure- ‘B’. Likely date of commencement can be ascertained only after fulfillment of requirements by the State Govt.
(c) No, Sir.
(d) Ministry of Defence has accorded “in-principle” approval and signed Memorandum of Agreement on 02nd March 2017 for opening of Sainik School at Warangal District. Thereafter, there has been no response from State Government of Telangana, till date.
