Question : Digital Communication Policy

(a) the effects of the implementation of the National Digital Communication Policy (NDCP) since it’s inception;

(b) whether there has been huge capital investment in Communications and IT sector during the last six years and the current year;

(c) if so, the details thereof, State/UT- wise along with the capital investment made in the above sector in rural, tribal and remote areas of the country during the said period; and

(d) the annual growth rate achieved by the Communications and IT sector during the said period?

(a) to (c) The National Digital Communications Policy 2018 (NDCP-2018) was notified on 22nd October, 2018 with a vision to support India’s transition to a digitally empowered economy and society. Further, in order to achieve the strategic objective of provisioning of broadband for all, National Broadband Mission has been launched on 17th December, 2019. The Mission aims to attract investments from stakeholders of around US 100 billion dollars (Rs 7 Lakh Crore) of which Government share through Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) is 10%. The State/UT- wise allocation made by the Government through USOF under the project BharatNet is at Annexure I. The Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflow in the Telecommunications and Computer Software & Hardware Sector for the last 6 years is as under:
