Question : MODERNISATION OF DOORDARSHAN SERVICE

(a) whether the expenditure incurred on expansion and modernisation of Doordarshan service during the last three years has been static ;

(b) if so, the reasons therefor ;

(b) whether 10% of the population in the country is unable to have access to Doordarshan; and

(d) if so, the steps taken to cover the entire population ?

(d) TV coverage to uncovered areas of the country is now envisaged to be provided through satellite transmission in Ku-band which is to commence during 2004.
