Question : Housing for EWS Families

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has decided to construct houses for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in urban areas including Assam under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY);

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the funds sanctioned and the number of housing units constructed under the Yojana during each of the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise including Assam;

(c) whether various States have asked for financial assistance from Housing and Urban Development Corporation for construction of houses for EWS during the above period; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon along with the time by which the pending proposals, if any, are likely to be finalised?

STATEMENT REFRRED TO THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 60* DUE FOR 19.12.2017 REGARDING HOUSING FOR EWS FAMILIES.

(a): Yes, Madam. Government is providing houses for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in urban areas in all States/UTs including Assam under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) {PMAY (U)} since 17th June, 2015.

(b): The State/UT-wise details of funds sanctioned and the number of houses constructed under the Prdhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) during each of the last three years and the current year is at Annexure-I.

(c) & (d): Yes. The year-wise and State-wise details of loan assistance sanctioned by Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) to meet State/ULB share for projects under PMAY (U) during the last three years and current year 2017-18 (30.11.2017) are at Annexure-II. Further, it may be seen that HUDCO has sanctioned loan of Rs. 4710.17 crore for 4,02,694 EWS houses under PMAY(U) and Rs. 7292.99 crore for 10,84,200 houses in EWS category in projects other than PMAY(U).
