Question : Acquisition of Uranium Reserves


(a)whether the Government proposes to acquire Uranium Reserves situated in other countries and if so, the names of countries from which Uranium Reserves are likely to be acquired and the steps taken by the Government in this regard; and

(b)the Uranium exploration potential of the country, State/UT-wise?

(a)No Sir.

(b)Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD), a Constituent Unit of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), which has a mandate to identify and evaluate mineral resources of uranium has so far established 2,73,956 tonne in-situ U3O8 (2,32,315 tonne U) as on November, 2017. State-wise details of the uranium resources are given below:
