(a) whether the Government is considering to set up Rehabilitation Medicine Departments in all Medical Colleges as apex referral centers;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard, particularly in Uttar Pradesh?

(a) to (d) Health being a subject in the State List, it is for the respective State Governments to take up necessary steps to set up and strengthen various departments of hospitals under their control. However, up gradation of the facilities in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation is being undertaken in five institution/Medical Colleges under the administrative control of the Central Government in Delhi, Chandigarh and Pondicherry during the 10th Five Year Plan.
