(a) the total length of metre gauge rail lines in terms of route in kilometres in India at
present;
(b) whether some of these lines are lying damaged for quite long;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the steps taken proposed to be taken to rebuild and restore these lines in the country?

(a): The total length (route kilometres) of metre gauge rail lines of Indian Railways as
on 31.03.2007 is 10,621 kilometres.
(b)to(d): Junagarh - Visavador (Metre Gauge) Section of Bhavnagar Division of Western Railway
got breached in June 2007. Restoration work is in progress and likely to be completed by 31st
March 2008
