Question : TANK TRUCK SECURITY SYSTEM



(a) whether IOC has introduced `Tank Truck Security System` in some of the cities to check adulteration and pilferage of petroleum products during transit;

(b) if so, the details of the system;

(c) whether other Public Sector oil companies have also been directed to introduce similar system in the country;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the extent to which the new system introduced by IOC would ensure supply of fuel to consumers free from any adulteration?

(a) : Yes, Sir.

(b) : The Tank Trucks supplying products to the Retail Outlets would be locked with unique/Retail Outlet specific locks. The keys of the locks would be made available with the Retail Outlet Dealer only and a master key would be available at the supply location.

(c) & (d) : Other Public Sector Oil Companies viz. HPC, BPC and IBP have also introduced the above new Tank Truck Locking System. Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas have advised the Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies to introduce the locking system in a phased manner.

(e) : Since the locks used in the New Tank Truck Locking System are claimed to be tamper proof and duplicate keys can not be made easily, enroute adulteration as well as enroute pilferage are expected to be eliminated.
