Question : Programmes under NIRD & PR

(a) whether the Government proposes to improve and extend the activities of National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR) and States Institutes of Rural Development (SIRD) in training, research, consultancy and information dissemination in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UTwise including Tamil Nadu;

(c) whether the Union Government also proposes to provide support to States to reach out all the villages and Panchayats under any special component scheme;

(d) if so, the details thereof and the funds allocated during the last three years, yearwise, State/UT-wise; and

(e) the financial assistance provided from both
private and public sector companies as well as from external funding agencies and international organisations for the development of NIRD & PR and SIRD in the country during the period?

(a) to (e): Capacity building of rural development functionaries and Panchayati Raj Institutions through training programmes, research/action research, consultancy, information dissemination etc is a continuous process and is done through National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD &PR), Hyderabad and State Institutes of Rural Development (SIRDs) of different states. The Government provides financial support to NIRD &PR and SIRDs including the SIRD of Tamil Nadu for their various activities in the field of rural development.
