Question : Kannur-Mattannur-Mysore Rail Line

(a) whether the Railways had undertaken a technical feasibility survey for Kannur-Mattannur-Mysore broad gauge railway line and the report in this regard has already been submitted;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government is aware that this railway line is very important in view of the Kannur international airport, the construction of which is in progress; and

(d) if so, whether the Government will consider to allocate sufficient funds for the construction of the first phase i.e. Kannur-Mattannur railway line during the current year?

(a) and (b): Two surveys for Kannur-Mattannur (23 Km) and Thalasserry-Mysore via Mattannur (300 Km) new lines have been taken up which cover Kannur-Mattannur-Mysore alignment.

(c): No project for construction of rail line to link Kannur International Airport is sanctioned.

(d): Does not arise.
