Question : Implementation of MGNREGA

(a) the details of budget provision made and released under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for the years 2017-18 and 2019-20 and funds utilised so far;

(b) the details of number of workers and mandays given during the said period;

(c) the details of assets created as on date along with the details of funds utilised for the wages during the said period and the funds utilised under administrative head;

(d) whether there is any pending wages of the workers
for the years 2018-19 and 2019-20; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor along with the time by which it is likely to be cleared?

(d) & (e): The Mahatma Gandhi NREGS is a demand driven wage employment programme. Fund release to the States/UTs is a continuous and dynamic process and Central Government is committed to making funds available keeping in view the demand for work. The Ministry releases funds periodically to States in two tranches with each tranche consisting of one or more instalments based on agreed to Labour Budget (Persondays), opening balance, pace of utilization of funds, pending liabilities of the previous year, if any, and overall performance. During the current financial year 2019-20 (as on 30.01.2020), the Ministry has released Rs. 60,282.80 crore to all States/UTs under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS.
