(a) whether the government have received any representations from certain `Tea
Tribes` for granting the status of Scheduled Tribes so that they can avail of the
facilities as given to these tribals in other States; and
(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a)&(b) Representations have been received requesting notification of Tea-Tribes and ex-
Tea Tribes as Scheduled Tribes in relation to the State of Assam. Action on the
representation has been initiated as per the modalities approved by the
Government for deciding such claims.
