Question : Ayush Wellness Centres

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government provides financial assistance to establish Ayush Wellness Centres in the country including the State of Tamil Nadu under National Ayush Mission;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the fund allocated by the Government for this purpose during the last five years to Government of Tamil Nadu under this mission; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to increase the number of Ayush Wellness Centres?

(a) to (c): Public Health is a State subject. Setting up of AYUSH Wellness Centres comes under purview of State/UT Governments. However, Central Government is implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) in the country including Tamil Nadu under which there is a provision for financial assistance to States/UTs for setting up of AYUSH Wellness Centres including Yoga & Naturopathy. During the last five years Rs. 1370.21 lakhs was approved under NAM for setting up of 104 AYUSH Wellness Centres including Yoga & Naturopathy in the State of Tamil Nadu.
