(a) Since August, 2019, Government of India in partnership with States, is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), to make provision of tap water connection to every rural household by 2024, with an estimated outlay of Rs. 3.60 lakh Crore.
On 15th August, 2019, at the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission, out of 18.93 Crore rural households, 3.23 Crore households (17%) were reported to have tap water connections. So far, 4.59 (24%) Crore rural households have been provided with tap water connections. Thus, as of date, out of 19.12 Crore rural households across the country, 7.82 Crore households (40.92%) are reported to have potable tap water supply in their homes.

(d) The State/ UT-wise details of the number of rural households that are provided with tap water supply and those yet to be provided tap water connection in the country, including in Telangana, is at Annex–II.
(e) As on date, 74 districts across the country, including 32 in the State of Telangana, have been declared ‘Har Ghar Jal’ district i.e. every rural household in the district have started getting tap water supply. State-wise number of districts where 100% rural households are yet to have tap water connection is at Annex–III.
(f) Mission Bhagiratha is a scheme/ project of the State Government, and such information is not maintained by this ministry.
