Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF SHIPPING, ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI K. H. MUNIYAPPA)

(a) to (d) Yes, Sir. The abutment on Khatima side portion of bridge on river Kailash between Sitarganj and Khatima was damaged last year before the road was entrusted as National Highway to the State Government in November 2004. For immediate restoration of traffic, the State PWD constructed a diversion on the downstream side of the bridge, which was washed away during the rains this year. However, in the meantime the State PWD has erected a Bailey bridge over the damaged abutment portion and the bridge has been opened to traffic. The cost of the temporary restoration is around Rs. 60.00 lakhs. The cost of the permanent restoration including the construction of the abutment will be around Rs. 103.00 lakhs, for which estimate has already been sanctioned by the Ministry.

(e) to (h) No such complaint has been received so far.
