Question : Strength of RPF Personnel

(a) whether the present strength of RPF personnel has decreased vis-à-vis sanctioned strength during each of the last three years and the current year;

(b) if so, the details thereof, zone- wise and the reasons therefor;

(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to fill up such gap along with achievements made as a result thereof;

(d) whether the Government has conducted any study/assessment of the coordination between RPF personnel and other security agencies including State police; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) No, Madam.
(b) Does not arise.

(c) Recruitment of 16388 Constables and 511 Sub-Inspectors has been completed in the year 2014-15. Since filling up of vacancies in RPF/RPSF is an ongoing process, vacancies arising from time to time are filled up through direct recruitment.

(d) & (e) To ensure better security and smooth train operations over Indian Railways, coordination is maintained by RPF with Government Railway Police (GRP) and district Police. RPF is also part of Multi Agency Centre (MAC) and designated RPF officers regularly attend meeting of Multi Agency Centre (MAC) at Central and State Multi Agency Centres (SMAC) at State level.
