Question : Affordable Houses under PMAY

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is progressing in regard to providing affordable houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) for the benefit of urban poor and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of houses completed till date, State-wise;

(c) whether the Government has any timeframe for completion of the scheme and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the Government has any difficulty in the implementation of the scheme and if so, the details thereof, State-wise?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. In pursuance of the Government’s vision of “Housing for All” by 2022, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) [PMAY(U)] since 25.06.2015 for providing assistance to States/Union Territories (UTs) in addressing the housing requirement of the people belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Lower Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) categories in urban areas.

Total 15,263 projects have so far been approved for construction of 72,65,763 houses under the PMAY(U), out of which, 37,54,871 houses have been grounded for construction, 14,42,796 houses have been completed. State-wise details of houses approved, grounded and completed under the PMAY(U) are at Annexure.

(c) & (d): In order to achieve the vision of “Housing for All” by 2022, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has requested all States/UTs to saturate their demand of houses under the PMAY(U) at the earliest so that construction of all houses may progressively be completed by 2022. States/UTs have also been requested to adopt modern, innovative and green technologies & building material for faster and quality construction of houses.
