Question : Medical Facilities in Trains

(a) whether the Government has received proposals from various States including Tamil Nadu for providing medical care/facilities in long distance express trains such as Shatabdi, Janshatabdi, Rajdhani, Tamil Nadu express;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the action taken by the Government to provide essential medical services in running trains?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF STARRED QUESTION NO.62 BY SHRI R. P. MARUTHARAJAA AND SHRI C. S. PUTTA RAJU TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 20.12.2017 REGARDING MEDICAL FACILITES IN TRAINS

(a): No, Madam.

(b): Does not arise.

(c): First Aid Boxes containing essential drugs and dressing materials are provided with the guards of all passenger carrying trains. In addition, Augmented First Aid Boxes with wide range of medicines, disposable medical material and oxygen cylinder, etc. have been provided with the Train Superintendents/ Guards of Rajdhani/Shatabdi Express trains and nominated long distance trains. Front line staff deployed on trains are also trained in rendering First Aid. The Station Masters of all stations have details of doctors, clinics and hospitals, both Government and Private, in the vicinity of the station, so that their services could also be availed, in emergencies. Ambulance service of both Railway hospitals and State Governments are utilized when required.
