(a) whether the Government of Gujarat has sent a bill of “Gujarat Gas
Act†for approval;
(b) if so, whether the Government is likely to clear the proposed Gas Act of
Gujarat State;
(c) if so, the time by when it is likely to be cleared; and
(d) if not, the reasons thereof?

(a) No, Sir. However, the Government of Gujarat have enacted with the
assent of the Governor the Gujarat Gas (Regulation of Transmission, Supply
and Distribution) Act, 2001, as published in the Gujarat Government Gazette
Extra Ordinary dated April 28, 2001.
(b) to (d) Government of India had decided to make a Presidential Reference
to the Supreme Court on the constitutional validity of the State Act and the
matter is being heard by the Supreme Court. Therefore, the question of
clearance to the Gas Act by Government of India does not arise.
