(a) No such information is maintained by this Department.
(b) Financial assistance is provided to eligible Voluntary Consumer Organizations (VCO)/Institutions/State Governments from the Consumer Welfare Fund in accordance with the provisions contained in the Consumer Welfare Fund (CWF) Rules, 1992 and Consumer Welfare Fund Guidelines, 2014. A list of VCOs which were provided assistance during the last 3 years along with details of grants provided is enclosed at Annexure-I.
(c) Some complaints have been received, a list of which is enclosed at Annexure-II. But no incidence of misappropriation/misuse of funds by any VCO has been established so far.
(d)&(e) No, Madam. However, this Department has provided financial assistance of Rs.7.50 crore during the year 2013 to the Government of Karnataka as centre’s share towards setting up a corpus fund of Rs.10.00 crore in the State, the interest generated from which could be utilized to fund the local agencies/organizations for undertaking consumer welfare activities.
