(a) Whether the State Government of Madhya Pradesh has sought additional amount under the National Slum Development Programme; and

(a) Planning Commission has not received any request from the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh for additional funds under National Slum Development Programme.

(b) National Slum Development Programme was launched in the country during 1996- 97. Under this programme Planning Commission allocates Additional Central Assistance to States/UTs on pro-rata basis of slum population in the States/UTs. The basic objective of the programme is to improve/upgrade living conditions of the slum dwellers through provision of basic amenities like water supply, sewerage, electricity, pavement of street etc. and shelter upgradation. Planning Commission has allocated following amount of ACA for 1996-2001 for the State of Madhya Pradesh:-
