(a) whether the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to include upgradation and modernisation of the present Postmortem facilities in the States as a component under the Modernization of Police Force (MPF) Scheme; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Ministry in this regard?

(a): On 5.3.2015, Central Bureau of Investigation suggested that modernisation & technical upgra- dation of post mortem houses in States may be made a part of the Modernisation of Police Force Scheme with support from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
(b): As per the guidelines approved by the Cabinet, the upgradation of post-morterm facilities is not an approved component of Modernisation of Police Force (MPF) Scheme.
