Question : COASTAL POLICE TRAINING



(a) whether the Government had decided to establish National Institute of Coastal policing in Mumbai to train the police officers of five States with a view to strengthening the defence of coastal areas in the country; and;

(b) if so, the present status thereof?

(a) & (b): No, Madam, However, the Government has decided to set up two Marine Police Training Institutes, one each on the eastern and the western coasts of India. In the western coast, it has been finalized to locate the Institute at Pindara village of Devbhoomi Dwarka district, Gujarat. The Government has already initiated necessary steps in this regard.
