(a) whether the rise in prices of rice and wheat is largely due to increase in Minimum Support Price;
(b) if so, the steps taken to ensure that the hike in MSP is not passed on to the consumers;
(c) whether the price of good quality rice is not being monitored by the Government; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor?

(b): The vulnerable section of the population have been insulated from price rise as the
Central Issue Price (CIP) of rice and wheat have been unchanged since 2002.CIP for rice is
Rs 5.65 per kg for BPL and Rs 3 per kg for AAY; for wheat it is Rs 4.15 per kg for BPL and
Rs 2 per kg for AAY
