Question : Target for Production of Coal

(a) whether the Government has fixed any target for the production of coal in the country and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;
(b) the state-wise details of the estimated cost involved in such production including the State of Rajasthan and the steps being taken by the Government in this regard;
(c) whether the Government proposes to conduct any workshop regarding the use of clean coal technologies and environment protection in the country;
(d) if so, the State-wise details thereof including the State of Rajasthan and Assam; and
(e) the State-wise details of the estimated funds for the purpose including the State of Rajasthan and the time by which these workshops are likely to be conducted?

(a): All India coal production target was fixed at 810 Million Tonnes (MT) for year 2019-20. Out of which, for CIL at 660 MT, SCCL at 67 MT and for Others at 83 MT respectively.

(b): Cost of production depends on various parameters and varies from mine to mine. Mine-wise cost of production data is not maintained in the Ministry.
(c)to(e): Coal India Ltd. (CIL) and its subsidiary companies regularly conduct workshops regarding environmental protection. CIL has also signed MoU with Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE), Dehradun and National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur for conducting training programmes and capacity building for the Officials of CIL on environment and forest issues. Recently, one such workshop was organized in New Delhi on 17th Jan. 2020 under the guidance of Ministry of Environment and Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
