Question : CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT WITH BODO



(a) whether UPDS and DHD, the two militant organisations who are under ceasefire agreement with the Government have opposed the clause 8 of the MOS signed between Government, State Government and BLT;

(b) if so, whether the issue was raised by UPDS and DHD during their recent talks with the Union Government;

(c) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto; and

(d) the name of the other organisations/Groups who opposed the said MOS?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI SWAMI CHINMAYANAND)

(a): Representation has been received from United Peoples` Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) demanding removal of clause 8 of the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) However, no representation on this issue has been received from Dima Halam Daogah (DHD).

(b): It is not in public interest to disclose the details of the discussions held with UPDS and DHD.

(c): Views of the UPDS have been taken note of.

(d): The MoS signed with BLT has been widely welcomed.
