Question : National Ayush Mission

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) the salient features of National Ayush Mission;

(b) the details of target sets and achievement made under the Mission since its inception, State/UT-wise;

(c) whether the Government has made any assessment of the mission with regard to fulfillment of its objectives and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the various States have raised concerns regarding the objectives of the Mission, if so, the details thereof and corrective measures taken by the Government to address these concerns; and

(e) whether the Government proposes to upgrade educational institutions for promotion of Ayush system of medicines in the country and if so, the details thereof?

(a): The salient features of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) is furnished at Annexure-I.
(b): Under NAM grant-in-aid is being provided to State/UT Governments as per their proposed State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs). Since, implementation of the programme comes under the purview of State/UT Governments, no target has been fixed by the Central Government for the States/UTs. However, resource pool allocated under NAM for each State/UT

Government is communicated to the States/UTs. Accordingly, States/UTs are required to prepare their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) as per their requirements in accordance with NAM guidelines. The status of achievement made under NAM since inception, State/UT-wise is furnished at Annexure-II.
(c): So far, no such assessment has been made.
(d): States/UTs have not raised concerns regarding the objectives of the Mission.
(e): As health is a State subject, upgradation of AYUSH educational institutions come under the purview of respective State/UT Governments. However, under National AYUSH Mission (NAM), there is provision of financial assistance for upgradation of State Government under-graduate and post-graduate educational institutions and setting up of new State Government AYUSH educational institutions in the States where it is not available in Government Sector in the country. State/UT Governments are required to submit their proposal through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs).
