Question : FUNDS FOR FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT



(a) whether the Union Government has received proposals from several States including Madhya Pradesh for development of fresh water aquaculture under the Development of Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture and construction of houses for fishermen under the National Scheme for Welfare of Fishermen;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time by which such proposals are likely to be cleared and funds released in this regard?

{a) to (c): Yes Madam. During the current financial year 2010-11, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme -Development of Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture, proposals have been received from Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Nagaland as on 31-07-210. An amount of Rs, 60 lakh has been released to Government of Madhya Pradesh under this scheme.

Proposals under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme - National Scheme of Welfare of fishermen have been received for construction of houses during the financial year 2010-11, from the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam as on 31-07-210.

All the proposals are examined immediately on receipt in accordance with the guidelines and funds released to the states with respect to those proposals as are complete.
