(a): The following new Central Sector Projects were
sanctioned during the last three years in North Eastern Region
and Sikkim:-

In addition, Rs. 20 crores and Rs. 15 crores were
released to NEEPCO for pre-construction activities in respect of
proposed new projects namely Tuivai HE Project (210 MW) in
Mizoram and Kameng HE Project (600 MW) in Arunachal Pradesh
respectively in 1999-2000. A sum of Rs. 9.75 crores was also
released during 1999-2000 to NHPC for survey, investigation
leading to preparation of DPR of Subansiri Lower Side (600 MW) in
Arunachal Pradesh.
(b): The budgetary allocations and actual releases for the
above mentioned projects during 1997-98, 1998-99 and 1999-2000
are indicated below:

(e) : The execution of power projects in the North Eastern
Region and Sikkim are monitored in quarterly performance
meetings, taken by Secretary, Ministry of Power as well as in the
meetings of Hydel Task Force headed by the Minister of Power.
Efforts are invariably made to meet full funding requirements of
Power Projects in North Eastern Region and Sikkim. The new
initiatives announced by the Government in October, 1996.
