Question : Arms Licences

(a) whether the Government has any data regarding Arms Licenses issued or renewed during the last three years with All India Permission;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State and UT-wise and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government has any details regarding those who are accused in criminal cases and still holding an All India Arms License;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, whether it is planning to prepare the same;

(e) whether the Government is planning for centralized issue of Arms Licence (All India), if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(f) whether the Government has the details of Arms License which are cancelled during the said period and if so, the details thereof, State and UT-wise?

(a) to (b): Yes Sir, the data of Arms Licenses issued and renewed during the last three years with All India Permission is available at Annexure-A and Annexure-B respectively.

(c) to (d): Arms Licences are granted, renewed and cancelled in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Arms Act, 1959 and the Arms Rules, 2016. The licence is liable to be cancelled in case of violation of provisions related to arms licensing.

(e) Arms Licences with all India validity for restricted category of arms are issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and for the permissible category of arms are issued by the State Governments/Union Territories.

(f) The data of the Arms Licences cancelled during the last three years is available at Annexure-C.
