Question : Joint Ventures between NPCIL and other PSUs

(a)whether the Government is intending to enable the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCL) to form joint ventures with other public sector undertakings;

(b)if so, the details thereof;

(c)whether the Government intends to include entities other than PSUs that are established;

(d)if so, whether any representation or proposal has been received by the Government from such companies operating in private sector and if so, the details thereof;

(e)whether the present and existing joint ventures with NALCO, Indian Oil and NTPC are operational; and

(f)if so, whether the joint venture partners in the above mentioned ventures are equally liable for settlements and claims arising under liability mandate and if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b) Yes, Sir. The Government has amended the provisions of the Atomic Energy Act 1962 enabling NPCIL to form Joint Ventures with Public Sector Undertakings.

(c) No, Sir.

(d) Does not arise in view of (c) above.

(e) The existing joint ventures are yet to commence their business activities.

(f) Does not arise in view of (e) above.
