(a) whether the Government has appointed any expert committee to modernize the Krishna Delta works in Andhra Pradesh; and

(b) if so, the details thereof and progress made so far and if not, the time by which such an expert committee would be appointed to take the works?

(a) & (b) The Government of Andhra Pradesh has informed that they had constituted an Expert Committee to study and prepare Detailed Project Report for Modernization of Canals and Drainage system in Delta areas in 2006. The Committee submitted a Report in June, 2007. The Government of Andhra Pradesh accorded administrative approval for modernization of Krishna delta system for Rs. 4573 crore in November 2007.

An expenditure of Rs. 1345.72 crore has been incurred on this project. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has now constituted an Expert Committee in 2014 to study the problems involved in carrying out the modernization works and to identify essential works in the order of priority, so as to complete the programme of Modernization of Godavari, Krishna and Pennar deltas.
