Question : TRANSPORTATION OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS

(a) whether the petroleum tankers have become useless after entrusting the transportation work of petroleum products on contract basis;

(b) if so, the number of such tankers which have become useless for want of any work;

(c) whether the Government are incurring losses worth crores of rupees every month in the form of tax due to these idle tankers; and

(d) if so, the measures being taken to put the same in use for gainful purposes?

(a):- The Oil Marketing Companies utilize the services of contractors and a few company owned road tankers for the bulk transportation of petroleum products. Oil Marketing Companies have reported that the road tankers are hired on contract by adopting public tendering procedures.
