Question : CONSTRUCTION OF MATHSYA ASHRAYA - II IN KARNATAKA



(a) whether the Union Government has given approval for construction of 5000 houses under Mathsya Ashraya-II in Karnataka;

(b) if so, the amount released for the purpose till date; and

(c) if not, by when it is likely to be released?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): The cost of construction of a fisherman house under the ‘National Scheme of Welfare of Fishermen’ is shared by the Central and State Government on 50:50 basis. The Government of India sanctioned 5000 fishermen houses to the State of Karnataka in 2004-05 involving total cost of Rs.1500 lakh of which Central share was Rs.750 lakh. The Central share of Rs.300 lakh for construction of fishermen houses under Mathsya Ashraya-II has been released to Karnataka till date.
