(a) whether the recommendations of the Hanumantha Rao Committee, based on
the recommendations of the National Farmers Commission and Radhakrishnan
Committee on agricultural indebtness, have been implemented; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and the achievement made therein?

(a) & (b): Planning Commission constituted a Steering Committee on Agriculture
and Allied Sectors for formulation of the Eleventh Five Year Plan (2007-12), under the
chairmanship of Dr. C.H. Hanumantha Rao. The Committee made recommendations
on a wide range of issues relating to outlay on agriculture, agricultural research,
irrigation, rain water harvesting, balanced use of fertilizers, seed production and
distribution, marketing, post harvest infrastructure, extension machinery, restructuring
of cooperatives, credit supply, agriculture insurance, initiatives aimed at women
farmers, agro-forestry in North East region etc., which were addressed while
formulating the Eleventh Five Year Plan.
