FUNDS FOR PRE- MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP
2371. SHRIMATI PRAMILA BISOYI:
Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the total fund released under Pre-matric Scholarship for SCs students for the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22, the details thereof, State-wise;
(b) the utilization of funds reported by States under Pre-matric Scholarship for SCs students during the last three financial years, including Financial Year 2020-21, the details thereof, State-wise;
(c) whether there is any plan to increase the amount of Pre-matric Scholarship for SCs students; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a): The State-wise details of the funds released under Pre-matric Scholarship for SC students during the financial year 2020-21 is attached as Annexure-I. Since the schools are yet to re-open, no release has yet been made for 2021-22.
(b): Under the Pre-Matric Scholarship SC Scheme, the releases are made to the States/UTs based on the proposals received from them after adjusting the unspent amount of previous years available with the State/UT, if any. The State/UT wise funds released during the last three years under the Scheme are attached as Annexure-II.
(c) & (d): The existing scheme provides for a monthly maintenance allowance and ad-hoc allowance. It is proposed to merge these allowances and provide a lump sum annual scholarship to the students, with a marginal increase.
