EL-NINO WEATHER PATTERNS

Will the Minister of EARTH SCIENCES be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that India is likely to emerge unscathed from the El-Nino weather patterns as it is expected to set in only during the latter part of the four month monsoon season;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the country would have timely arrival of rains; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a-b) Climate Models at present suggest that weak El-Nino conditions may develop during December 2018-February 2019.
(c-d) It is a bit early to confirm this aspect as we need to closely monitor other global parameters, which may be evolving in the next few months. India Meteorological Department issues the first long-range monsoon forecast by April every year.
