Question : FOODGRAIN PROCUREMENT POLICY



(a) the policy for procurement of wheat, rice and other foodgrains from the farmers;

(b) whether there is a need to review foodgrain procurement policy in various States;

(c) if so, whether the Government propose to enforce uniform foodgrains procurement policy throughout the country;

(d) if so, the steps taken in this regard; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): The Food Corporation of India and State Agencies procure foodgrains conforming to Fair Average Quality specifications from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to offer remunerative prices and to check distress sale. The policy is uniformly applicable throughout the country.
