Question : EXPANSION OF RURAL ENERGY SCHEME



(a) the target fixed for the expansion of the Rural Electrification Scheme in Madhya Pradesh during the Ninth Five-Year Plan;

(b) the estimated expenditure likely to be incurred in this regard; and

(c) the number of persons likely to be benefited in Madhya Pradesh by this scheme?

(a) : As reported by the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board (MPEB), the targets fixed for the rural electrification in Madhya Pradesh during the Ninth Plan Period (1997-2002) are given below :-

(b) : The estimated expenditure incurred during the Ninth Five Year Plan period (1997-2002) upto January, 2001 is Rs.623.65 crores.

(c) : MPEB has further informed that 2.305 lakhs rural population have been benefited by electrification of villages in Madhya Pradesh during the said plan period upto January, 2001.
