Question : Gyan Prabha Scheme

(a) the number of disabled persons benefitted so far under ‘Gyan Prabha’ Scheme;
(b) the extent to which the scheme has been successful in illuminating the lives of the disabled persons with knowledge; and

(c) the details of the future target fixed in this regard?

(a) The Gyan Prabha Scheme was started by the National Trust for Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities in the year 2008. So far 81 beneficiaries have been benefitted under the scheme.

(b) The scheme aims to encourage persons with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities for pursuing educational courses like graduation, professional and vocational training leading to employment or self employment.


(c) Keeping in view that fact that the Government has started various scholarship schemes for providing scholarships to persons with disabilities ( Divyangjan), it has been decided by the Board of the National Trust to discontinue the Gyan Prabha Scheme.
