Question : Security Measures at Airports

(a) whether there has been lack of coordination between Central Agencies and Agencies of Civil Aviation in the month of March with regard to the steps taken to avoid the bomb scare threat to Indian flights;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto;

(c) whether the intelligence agencies have failed to collate the bomb scare threat after Brussel Terrorist attack; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government thereon to avoid such situation in future?

(a) : No, Madam. There is a standing mechanism to deal with such threats, which includes representatives from agencies of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Central Security Agencies and other stakeholders.
(b) : In view of (a) above, the Question does not arise.
(c) & (d) : No, Madam. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BACS) has also involved the National Investigative Agency (NIA) and the National Technical Research Organization (NTRO) for detailed investigation and technical analysis of such threats.
