Question : EIGHTH SCHEDULE OF CONSTITUTION

(a) whether the Government propose to constitute a High Powered Committee for considering the proposals to place the various regional mother tongues in Eighth Schedule of the Constitution;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the criteria laid down for the purpose; and

(d) the time by which the Committee is likely to be set up?

(a)to(d): There is a proposal under consideration to constitute a High Powered Body for evolving criteria for inclusion of any or more languages in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.
