(a) and (b): The Central board of Secondary Education (CBSE) does receive sporadic complaints against its affiliated schools regarding charging of capitation fees, refusing to admit children and making false claims through misleading advertisements. The Board has received 33 complaints during the last three years. The State-wise numbers of such complaints are given below:-

(c): On receipt of a complaint, concerned school is asked for clarification. Further, if reply along with supportive documents is not found satisfactory, the school is served with Show Cause Notice. In cases of grave violation of Affiliation Bye-Laws, the concerned school is considered for disaffiliation. For minor violations warning letters are issued. No school was disaffiliated during the last three years.
(d) and (e): The Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), is the highest advisory body to advise the Central and State Governments in the field of education. The CABE in its meeting held on 07th June, 2011, constituted a Committee, to formulate the draft legislation to prohibit unfair practices in school education sector. The Committee has formulated a draft legislation for inputs from stakeholders including the State Governments.
